SCOTT, Walter (Wattie) (1871-1940)
Biography
A lithographic artist and designer with W and A K Johnston Ltd, map makers and printers in Edinburgh, until he retired in 1933 to paint in Peeblesshire. He exhibited carefully-studied local landscapes in watercolour and etching from 1899-1938.
Somewhat in the manner of Tom Scott (1854-1927) his predominantly lowland scenes show a love of the countryside and its changing moods – the earliest being the more atmospheric.
