Biography
A landscape painter and watercolourist, Smith lived mainly at Alnwick, Northumberland. He exhibited only at Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street, London 1850-1881. His landscape views are of various parts of the UK, but he was most fond of painting streams and waterfalls, sometimes with anglers in the foreground.
